HIGH Sugar LEVEL NOoooo

EW, I know.
My blood tests came today, my cholesterol level was good, but my good cholesterol level was pretty low (lol). My blood sugar level was really high, dangerously high. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
I have a pretty high risk of diabetes because of my father and my HORRENDOUS eating habits probably made it sky rocket during my college freshman-sophmore-junior years LOL.
I've gotten A LOT better recently, and only recently, like within the last 2-months or so, but it's still pretty high.
I have to control it!
It's a serious matter!
Honestly probably the only reason I'm not over 200 lbs is because I do put in quite a lot of effort in exercising, because I eat so badly.
But I haven't been eating as bad, and haven't been as lethargic everywhere so hopefully, hopefully, my blood sugar level will go down significantly within the next few months.

ANYWay,
My knees felt GREAT this morning but I was scared to pound it on the road while running so I ended up doing some epliticals today instead. What a work out!

Gosh darn darn it

LOl I am a woman of injuries
I'm not sure what I did, but my knee got inflamed so I'm resting it out today and hopefully it's good enough for me to at least cycle on it; or at least walk on it right. ( ;∀;)

Got my blood drawn today, crossing fingers for god luck!!

"2 days of break, you will notice. 3 days of break, your master will notice"

Took the day off yesterday for rest since my calves were killing me ):.
I was gonna do cross-training but opted out of it, but good thing I did because today my body felt great and rested!

I was trying to do the new Yoga program that I downloaded, the Jillian Michaels one HAHAHA.
I was used to the Yoga X from P90X but I still suck at yoga regardless, so when I tried the Jillian Michaels one I pretty much quit 10 mins in because I swear I pulled a muscle on my hand.
Next time I will haha.

I also downloaded the 30 day shred from Jillian but I'm hesitating to start it because I'm going to be unable to exercise according to my schedule for at least good 16 days because of field exercise training.I hope I can run out in Wisconsin at least, to keep my time but...
I don't know. I have like 10 more days until the field exercise training so I'm not sure if I wanna start Jillian's on Monday and just keep going regardless for at least 10 days and skip out on the 16 and resume.
I'll see how I feel tomorrow.
Sunday/Sat are my long run days! So I tried to aim for about 10mi today but I started too late, I usually run in the morning but since I woke up hella late I went around 6:50pm instead. The sun set and the canal was full of bugs and dirt and I slipped on the mud a couple of times and at 8.33 miles I decided to stop and go home.
I'm disappointed I didn't hit my 10mi like I wanted to but at this rate I can increase 2mi every week, so next week will be a 10!
My first mile was at 8:54 and I felt great about it, compared to 8:57 last time, even though it's only a 3second increase it still feels good that my time is going down!
Even though my avg page was a wopping 13 seconds better than the 6mi I did, I'm glad that I held a steady 11mi pace for a while.
Next time, a 10miler! Stay tuned lol.

Off on another point,
I started to notice that my sweat smelled rather sweet? lately, and I've been getting worried about it. I stupidly looked it up and even though google suggested like 5 different diseases, I was most scared about diabetes because my father has it. I also drink a lot of water, go to the bathroom frequently, but I have low blood pressure. So I'm not sure!
I'm kind of paranoid about it so I'm going to go get blood test done tomorrow and see how it goes.
Good luck for me!

BlauAURRRGH INTERVALS

WHY AM I SO BAD AT THEM???
RirRURRUAURURUgh

Last night I finished off my evening workout with some Ab ripper X (which I completed better than the last few times I did it).
.
I RARELY do intervals because I HATE THEM with passion. I have NO speed but god knows I need it.
I think I did it better than June 28 lol, it's barely an improvement because I did more miles on June 28 than on July 19 because I was dying.

Ugh I could care less about my weight but it would be nice to see it drop?
I don't have one of those fancy scales that determine muscle/fat % etc, and my sauna suit is so uncomfortable so I don't like wearing it. Before I ran this morning I was at 150lbs and then I ran, came back and I was at 147 LOL.
Great water weight loss haha.
My mom told me that I still looked pudgier than ever so I have no idea what's going on there.

But regardless I still want ruffles...and peanut butter...and chips...
cheese...
pretzels...
mmm...

Yesterdays and Today's

7/17 and 7/18, a long over due post from me!
I've been out of town here and there, redoing my room and there has been a lot of storms lately, way more than what my state should get. It's monsoon season already and that means - ehhh well, it doesn't mean anything! Rain or no rain, there really should be no excuse for not running.

ANYWAY, FOOD:

Strawberry Oreos, Sour patch kids, chocolate fudge brownie mix and two bags of pretzel m&ms...Ended up downing a whole row of Oreos and 1 bag of pretzel m&ms in about ~3 days.
My teeth has been acting up so maybe I should stop, I'm looking for more healthier alternative snacks but all I can think of are delicious cheesy Ruffles.

On the 17th I went to go exercise in my raunchy gross T shirt that I ripped up when I was in high school, here you can see my AWFUL Neapolitan tan, 3 layers of tan, sun burnt, and pale. Fantastic.

My garmin has been acting up a little bit, I used to be able to see lap spilts but now it just combines it all into one! When I change it to cycling though, it doesn't change the spilts at all - and I need the spilts on the running more; so I don't know what's up with that. I think I changed the settings, but I'm not really sure if it's going to work right. Oh well, time to check tomorrow when I go run.

Yesterday I did an easy 1mi to see my progress so far; I did the mile @ 9:07 which is a huge improvement from my horrendous 11 min mi at June 22nd, hopefully by October or so I can get my mile down to 6min (MY ULTIMATE DREAM GOAL! LOL)

This morning I did an easy 4mi-ler, Garmin was at 4.13 mi at 46:05 which is way more accurate than this Nike App distance wise. But I had the same average speed, which was at 11:09min/mi
I remember the first mile I did at 8:57 (not that far from the 8min goal!), the 2nd mile I did at around 10, because at the 2 mile I was close to 18:57+. The next two miles I hung around and did a 10mi-11mi pace, although I think at the last mi I was going at an excruciating 12min/mi.

After that I did some Zumba at 10am which was...eh
Interesting to say the least. I used to love Zumba, and I still do, but now since I took a break from it, I don't find it as exciting? I feel more like an idiot regardless.
My heart rate at Zumba was around 109-120, which is a huge decrease because when I run I'm usually at the 160-180. I lifted a little bit of weights afterwards which climbed back up to 135-148 ish.
I'll try to go to zumba a lot more, maybe its just this instructor I'm not fitting with.
She has a great butt though, she moves like water while I move like a clunky robot.

Going to do some p90x later tonight for evening exercise and see how I feel tomorrow lol!

Mountain monster

I'm a little late for this blog post (it happened on 7/9 lol!)
Before I left my home town, I decided to do the thing that I came here for:
Go up hill toward tangerine rd. toward Catalina Mtns!
I was originally  going to do 20 mis or so and didn't eat anything before hand...and oh what a mistake it was.
About to roll out on my bicycle!

When I first started, the road was GREAT. It was cloudy, around 32% humidity, and it was also sprinkling just a little bit. I started going up the hills toward the mountains and I was addicted right away, I didn't want to stop until the road was finished or until it actually started pouring rain.
The picture doesn't do much justice especially because the mountains look so far away but it was actually so close!
The above picture was actually one of the neighborhoods where I got side-tracked at, which had beautiful, smooth paved roads (God I wish every road was like that), but the road was really short. I thought it was going to lead to Lemon mountain but alas, it ended prematurely.

And so I rode and rode, and it was a REALLY great time around 15 miles in. I remember that last summer I rode up this road toward fry's which was around 11 mi or so and I had a really difficult time and took breaks every so often. But this time I completely blew past fry's and kept going until the end of tangerine. (I didn't even know it ended!).
Tangerine is full of dips and curves so it was really exciting and a challenge to go through it, but the wind was on my back so it was a pretty exhilarating ride.
After tangerine ended, it went continued on toward oracle rd (highway 77). Left was toward Oro Valley and to the right was Tucson. I was really tempted to ride toward Tucson and toward Lemon mountains but...I didn't want to ride all the way back to Marana either so I decided to explore the Catalina mountain range up toward Oro Valley.
When I got toward the Catalina mountain entrance, the road was GROSS. Good thing it was only for a mile or so other wise I would have turned around. I took a chance and decided to go down this downhill, (with me pumping both breaks I was still speeding down this gross road at least 15mph) and was terrified I was gonna hit a rock or something and fly over. After I got down I took a left and it's a giant circle near the base of catalina mountains...but the hills are a no joke. I took a long break near the community once and someone pulled over and asked if I was ok haha.

One of the hills (me facing back) toward catalina, look at all those hills I had to climb, jesus it was a heart breaker.
I was finally at the (about 2mi away until going back to oracle), and I was DYING. I was HUNGRY, hot, sweaty, and TIRED. I only had 2mi up hill more to go but...it was the worst uphill I have ever seen. It was uphill and turning right at the same time.
But as soon as the hill was over, it was a smooth ride all the way down to oracle and I was at least going 30mph. Perfect.
But it all went downhill from there (literally). Actually, up hill was a lot more easier than down hill. At Tangerine, the dips are reversable, I'm not sure why I thought it would be easier down hill then uphill, because they are pretty much the same. But at this point I was so tired I didn't know up or down! I didn't have any money or any fuel goos so I was pretty much exhausted at this point. I'm not even sure how I even made it home, because around 2mi away from my house I had to take a break because the wind was against me and I almost collapsed! I was shaking and, well, let's just say it's not a good idea to skip breakfast for any reason.
My mileage was a bit off, it was exactly 54.54mi according to my computer, and the computer is usually SPOT on. I forgot to turn on the GPS watch every time I took a break so it was about 3~ miles off or so! I would have loved to do 60mi but at 50mi I was pretty much dead.
If I continued biking for 6 more miles another day would that count as 60? LOL
When I got home I was so exhausted I inhaled a banana and immediately felt sick afterwards. Never skip breakfast, important lesson learned. Also, wear a lot of sunscreen because even when I did put it on, I guess I didn't put enough and I got sunburnt around my legs and my arms (look at that gross bike knee tan LOL)
I'm taking the 7/10 day as a break for I was so tired and exhausted from yesterday. (Also it's an anniversary LOL).

Gone done f'd up!

Woke up at 4:30 am today, ready to cycle...then went back to sleep LOL. Finally got off my lazy butt and started biking at 12:21 PM and although it wasn't as hot (110F+), it was cloudy and was around 90-100F.

Working on RPM today, my plan was to do the following:
90 RPM @ Z1, 5min,
85 RPM @ Z1, 5min,
95 RPM @ Z1, 25 min
and 1-2mi run @ 10-20 mi/hr pace...

I ended up doing around 85RPM @ Z1, 5min and...
The rest was around at 85-95 RPM @ Z3/4 for about 59mins.
It's really hard for me to keep my heart rate at Z1, because it rockets up to Z3/4 immediately. I get out of the house and it's at Z2 hahaha.
This was my first time doing RPM training "fast-twitch muscles" and fat-burning training I suppose, I usually go hard with lower gear activating the "slow-twitch muscles". I'm still pretty new at this training thing although I bike a lot. Compared to my "slow-twitch muscle" training at 6/30/13, I think it's about the same but I'm just not as tired:
The head wind today (7/7) was a lot tougher than 6/30 from what I remember because of the storm yesterday but that should be no excuse about the time! Hahaa. I'm planning on doing more fast twitch/slow twitch training later on and see how I can shave off time / build up endurance.
I also heard that Armstrong does fast-twitch and his competitor did slow twitch and Armstrong won in the end but who knows!
I'm still going at 15mi/hr pace regardless. I hope I can go at least 20mi/hr consistently. So I can do 100mi in 5hrs instead of 10hrs LOL.

Last time I did a century I did 119.3 mi @ 8:22:32 (5/23/13) so I think I did around 100mi @ 7:10 or so, which I don't think is bad. Next time I do a century I'll aim for 6-7hrs. I stopped biking for a good month until 6/30 so it's been a long break... of utter laziness...
The bike ride back, the beautiful desert scenery... (just kidding it gets old quick).

I'm pretty sure I was pouring rain on my face by the time I got back to the house, because my sister said I looked disgusting LOL. I went to go put on my running gear really quick and decided to run because I planned on block training and.............
Ankle failed me.
):
Yesterday when I was running the 6 miles, I was off trail for about a mile @ the 2mi section of it to go easy on my joints. I haven't ran that trail part before and I missed a rock and slightly twisted my ankle. I ran on it, checked on it, and deemed it was fine and started running again. It didn't hurt last night, but it did hurt a little bit before I went cycling today.
When I tried to run, my ankle hurt, my stomach hurt (I drank too much water while cycling, I need to make a GOOD note of that the next time I do block training), and I ended up going back home at .15 miles in LOL.
Came home after like 2 mins and it was so embarrassing!

Currently my hip slightly hurts from an old injury of 4 years ago (probably because of RPM training, I'm not used to pedaling that fast w/o speed) and my ankle is hurting right now.
Probably going to do Stretch X or Yoga X for evening training instead, hopefully I can run MINIMUM of 1mi tonight so I can at least say that I ran 5/7 days LOL.

4/6 so far!

Also to bike (train, not commute) 3 out of 7 days, 1 out of 3 being outside, which shouldn't be all that bad since I do bike mostly 7 out of 7 days minimum 12mi/day during school days.
